The Six Lake Haven story

When I began thinking about the perfect name for this project, it came to me naturally, just like it did a couple of years ago during a meditation practice where I was asked to find a “safe haven” in my mind, a place either real or imagined. My mind didn’t hesitate then, and it didn’t hesitate now. Both times, I got chills, and my intuition confirmed I was on the right path. Of all the places I’ve been in the world, Six Lake was where I felt most at home.

On one hand, it’s my mental safe haven. It’s where I go when I feel low, need clarity, want to dream big, or make meaningful decisions. I’ve read about the potential of the mind and the idea that, in important moments, you can step into your own safe haven and invite your invisible “advisors” to reflect on things with you.

On the other hand, Six Lake Haven is inspired by a real place, the most charming little red cottage by a lake called “Six Lake.” It was lovingly built by my husband’s wonderful grandfather, and it was where my husband spent some of the best summers of his childhood with his grandparents. His grandmother was joyful, wise, warm, and absolutely lovable. I feel truly
grateful that I got to know them both.

The cottage was later passed on to my husband’s aunt and her husband, so it remained in the family, and we also had the chance to experience its magic as a couple. I’ll always appreciate how warmly they welcomed us to enjoy the cottage as well.

We usually went there in the fall, which is my favorite season. The colors of the leaves, the starry cold skies, the absolute silence. No electricity. No internet. No rush. Just us, the cottage, and the lake. I could always feel the grandparents’ kind presence there. It was a place of peace, joy, and complete relaxation.

Although the cottage is no longer in the family, the memories are deeply rooted. That’s what Six Lake Haven is. I’m so happy to share it with you and help you find yours.
